Mcor launches Matrix 3D printer, only asks for your paper and glue

We wouldn't go so far as to say that 3D printers are growing tired, but we are growing short on patience waiting for a commercial version that the average joe / jane can afford. Thankfully, Mcor is up to the challenge, recently delivering its Matrix to the UK and gearing up to bring it to other parts of the world in 2009. Put simply, this carving creature uses traditional A4 paper and PVA glue to create objects like the ones you see above. Throw in a nice, sharp blade and a little bit of computational prowess, and you've got yourself one wicked 3D printer with running costs "up to 40 times less" than competitors.

Love getting things for free? Prefer to do it without robbing your elderly neighbors at gunpoint? Hey, us too. Thankfully, Lexmark is hoping to encourage less robbery -- armed or otherwise -- by offering up one of their succulent, creative-activity-inspiring X7675 wireless printers. Interested in taking this handsome fellow home? Read the details below!
The rules:
  • Leave a comment below. Any comment will do, though we'd love to hear how you plan to put this printer into play.
  • You may only enter this specific giveaway once. If you enter this giveaway more than once you'll be automatically disqualified, etc. (Yes, we have robots that thoroughly check to ensure fairness.)
  • If you enter more than once, only activate one comment. This is pretty self explanatory. Just be careful and you'll be fine.
  • Contest is open to anyone in the 50 States, 18 or older! Sorry, we don't make this rule (we hate excluding anyone), so be mad at our lawyers and contest laws if you have to be mad.

Third time's a charm: Jobo re-re-launches photoGPS geotagger

You've got to be kidding us, right? Since February of 2007, Jobo has been dangling this unicorn-like geotagger in our faces and threatening to launch every six months or so, and right on cue, the company is back with yet another claim of "it's almost here." This time at Photokina 2008, the outfit is asserting that its $159 GPS-packing add-on, which automatically geotags images of any camera it's docked on, is just one month away from being released in the US. Or, the Windows version at least -- Mac users will have to wait until the end of this year. Or next. Or the next. Or maybe even the next.

Epson's P-7000 Multimedia Storage Viewer for photogs reviewed, cuddled

We hear quite a bit about these storage / viewing devices for photogs, so how 'bout a proper review in the run-up to the big Photokina show now just days away? If nothing else, PhotographyBlog's review of the Epson P-7000 describes how an $800 device can replace a laptop for serious, in-the-field photography. While recommending a second battery for heavy shooters, the easy to use P-7000 with that "stellar" 4-inch LTPS LCD comes away with high marks (4.5 of 5 stars) dressed in the opinion that it "far exceeds any other similar device" used by the reviewer. Now hit that read link for the full review.

Casio introduces PCP-1200 and PCP-250 touchscreen photo printers with flip-down keyboards

Photo printers don't really do it for us, but Casio's two newest models pack in enough bells and whistles to make us at least pay attention, if not actually print out photos -- the PCP-1200 (pictured) and PCP-250 both feature fold-down keyboards for titling, print 2400 x 1200 dpi res on up to A6-size paper, take virtually every memory card format you can throw at them, and allow you to draw on the images using a stylus. The 1200 sports a 7-inch screen, while the 250 gets a portrait-oriented 3.5-inch display -- yeah, we'd actually be totally into these if they were coming to the States and had pricing info. Oh well.

Brando Telescope makes iPhone 3G photos 6x worse

We've seen these zoom lens add-ons before. Now Brando's slapped together this 6x "Telescope" for the iPhone 3G -- a phone not exactly revered for its image quality. Just snap the unit to the back of the iPhone 3G and get to work. How good is it? About as bad as the $19 worth of optics within. Seriously, 19 bucks and available now.

TIE Fighter webcam solidifies your obsession with Star Wars

Wesco Limited is offering up a TIE Fighter webcam, which -- truth be told -- would look completely ridiculous sitting atop your LCD. That being said, those of you already chatting it up with your fellow nerds on an R2-D2 webcam won't mind one bit. You'll also be interested to know that there's a complete dearth of specifications, though we do know that a pair of LEDs just below the camera lights up to brighten your cheery face. It's available for now around $40, and proceeds go directly into funding George Lucas' next extravagant vacation.

Logitech's flagship QuickCam Vision Pro is Mac only

Logitech, a name long synonymous with PC webcams, just announced its newest, flagship camera which -- are you ready? -- is Mac-only. A move which, quite honestly, makes us feel, well... dirty. The USB 2.0 QuickCam Vision Pro works with iChat and Skype and features a 2 megapixel sensor, a quick autofocusing Carl Zeiss lens, and the ability to record VGA video at 30fps while mounted to your display or, redundantly, to your MacBook which of course have featured an integrated webcam for the last few years. Hitting shelves across Europe and the US in July for $130. See this chunk of a webcam attached to an Apple Cinema Display after the break.

Samsung intros 'smallest ever' color laser printers

We don't normally get too excited about printers, but when a company claims to have introduced the "smallest ever" of anything, our ears prick up. Apparently, the Korean electronics-maker has distilled color laser printers into their purest, tiniest form with the CLP-315K and CLX-3175FNK, clocking in at 20- and 40-percent smaller than previous iterations, respectively. The printers still sport fancy-pants features, like printing at up to 2,400 x 600 dpi, 32MB of onboard memory, and -- at least on the CLX-3175FNK -- the ability to print from a USB key. No word on price or availability, or if these will see the light of day in the States.
